hitting the skatepark

Come Skate Day was held at the Highlands Skate Park at the Rec. Center on Saturday, August 27. Over 50 skateboards and helmets were distributed to underserved youth from across Western North Carolina.

The success of this event was due in large part to our partner organizations, Boards for Bros, who supplied the skateboards, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC, who spotlighted the event with their bigs and littles.

We also have to say a very special "thank you" to the many individuals, businesses, and organizations who contributed helmets via our helmet drive on Facebook.

Based on this year's success, and the fact that two new skate parks are in the works for Franklin and Sylva, we hope to hold this event again in the next year.
